This morning we had our evacuation practice. Everything went well except for the cold weather! Please make sure that you are dressing appropriately for the cold and wet weather.
Today we worked with our partners to create our blueprints for our soundproofing device. We learned that sound is measured in decibels and that the higher the number the louder the sound. Ms. Binks used a program to measure the sound decibels her alarm clock makes when it is ringing. She measured 96 decibels! We kept this in mind as we started to build our devices. Lots of us used boxes, styrofoam, fabric, cotton balls and tin foil to try and decrease the sound. We will be testing our devices on Monday and Ms. Binks will measure the sound decibel of the alarm clock while it is in our device to see who is the most successful.
In math today we had a quiz on ordering and comparing numbers. We reviewed the terms:
- greater than
- less than
- equal
- least
- greatest
- standard form
- expanded form
- word form
- place value chart
We will be getting our quizzes back next week. We will start learning about addition and subtraction next week.
