Makerspace

Today we had our Pillars of Care assembly. 4 students from each class were chosen who showed behavior from each of the pillars:
- care for learning
- care for self
- care for others
- care for place
The students who won awards from our class were Madison, Rowan, Abby and Kyla. We have decided that we will start to nominate students in the class we feel should win the awards next time on Monday. We will write out who we think should win and why and Ms. Binks will review the nominations.

The grade 4s participated in Makerspace today. This is something new that we are doing at Beddington Heights. Makerspace involves activities focused on what we are learning about in our classroom but we get to work together and create and build things. Since we are focusing on hearing and sound, we were able to plan and build instruments today. We were put in groups and were able to create a band. In our band we needed to have:
- at least one string instrument
- something that shows vibration
- something you can play loudly and softly
- a wind instrument
- at least three objects that make a different sound when tapped or banged
- a instrument that plays different tones (notes)
- a percussion instrument

Before we built our instruments we had to plan out what materials we needed and how we would ensure our instrument would make sound. Lots of us talked about the science stations we completed and the importance of vibrations. We will continue to work with our instruments on Monday.

Reminders:
- Library on Tuesday
- Parent council dance is on Thursday
- Pizza fun lunch is on Thursday
