Happy New Year!

Over the past few days we have done some brainstorming and writing around our resolutions or goals for the new year. We have been working on creating our own goal boards about our hopes for 2017. We used pictures, words and objects from magazines to show what we would like to see, do and achieve for the year. Here are some examples:

Today we worked on a math problem about Ms. Binks time traveling. This problem reviewed our adding and subtracting skills. We will continue to have these practice problems so we don't get rusty! You can even create your own at home to keep practicing. Here is the time traveling problem:

In social studies we continued to look at India and focus on its climate. Did you know that India has 3 seasons where in Canada we have 4? The seasons in India are the cool, hot and rainy seasons.

We started a new round of activities in Daily 5. This time we will be focusing on gathering and summarizing information from non-fiction texts. We are practicing these skills to help us when we begin research projects in social studies next week.
