This morning we started our social studies presentations. We went through what we thought we should be marked on as well as what Ms. Binks wanted to focus on. We decided on 4 categories:
1) content - the actual information we had in our project and how many facts we taught the audience
2) organization - if our projects were done neatly, easy to read and showed our best work
3) presentation - how we spoke during the presentation and if the audience could see and understand what we were saying
4) questions and answers - if we could ask the audience at least 3 strong questions about what they learned and if we could answer questions we were asked
Today the presentations were about:
- Food in India
- Alberta's First Nations hunting and food
- Transportation in India
- Sports in India
After each presentation we were responsible for writing 2 stars (compliments) and 1 wish (something we wished would have been included or done to make the presentation even better). We talked about how we needed to make sure our stars and wishes were kind, specific, achievable and helpful. We were also responsible for writing down things we learned from each presentation. We will continue to present until next Tuesday.
If you have an alto recorder, please remember to bring it to school! Lots of students have been phoning parents to see if they can bring the recorders. Students should keep the recorder in their backpacks so it is ready for the days we have music.
This afternoon we had our lockdown practice. Everything went very well and the police officers who helped with the practice were impressed with our behavior. Some of us chose to talk and be silly during the lockdown. We had a class discussion about how even though we may be sitting silently for a long time, it is still our responsibility to make good choices and stay quiet. Ask me how I did this afternoon.
Reminders:
- Please make sure you bring back signed report card folders
- No school on Friday for students
