Winter Concert Tonight!

Today we continued our work in social studies around the regions in India. We finished up the plateau region. Today we learned about the Nilgiri Hills which are located in the southern part of the region where the Eastern and Western Ghats meet. The Nilgiri Hills is one of the best places in the world to grow tea.

In science this afternoon we looked at how water can erode rocks. We watched a video and saw how the force of water, freezing water and constant streaming water changes rocks. Mrs. Ball then showed us 2 different experiments where she had created a mountain and a beach. For the mountain we looked at the shape of the mountain and the positions of the rocks before Mrs. Ball sprayed and poured water down the mountain. After she did that we noticed that the shape of the mountain changed, some rocks were uncovered and some rocks moved down the mountain. For the beach we used a folder to create waves and saw how sand and rocks got dragged into the water and the main part of the beach was washed away.

Tonight is our winter concert. The doors to the school will open around 6 pm (it may be a bit earlier due to the cold!)
Please have students come up to the classroom once they arrive. They will stay in the classroom for the entire night until they are picked up by a parent at the end of the entire show. We ask out of respect for all performers that families stay until the very end. Mavericks will be selling popcorn tonight for 2 dollars. Students who buy popcorn will not eat it at school, but will take it home to enjoy it later!
See you tonight!
